It is an american import. Does anybody know what the letter "Z" is supposed to mean on a swiss licence plate? Same thing for the letter "U"? I see that pretty often and I don't know what it is supposed to mean. Thanks.

    plates with U are from garages. i'm not sure about the Z, as far i know are these temporary plates for foreigners

    Plates with an U on it are mean that it are Trade plates (handels platen) for garages. And with an Z on it mean that the owner of the plate his duty not paid.( plicht niet betaald)
    Hope this is enough information ;)

    And if you see one with an V on it it means that it is an (vermieteung= huur) rental car is.

    It's crazy that people that can afford to pay for an aston-martin or such a car don't have to pay for the duty...
